Responsibilities

Principal Investigators (PIs) are responsible for the overall performance of the project and compliance with rules, regulations, and award terms and conditions. There are many administrative, fiscal, and technical demands to navigate. The HR Toolkit outlines some of a PI’s and/or supervisor’s human resources responsibilities, while Policy 2.003 Roles and Responsibilities takes a closer look at some of the PI’s fiscal responsibilities.

  • Delegation of Authority - A PI may delegate approval authority for personnel, payroll, and financial transactions. See Policies 3.710 RCUH HR Portal System Access and Security, 2.013 Signature and Document Approval Requirements, and the Financial Portal Access Form.
  • Important Deadlines - Missing an important deadline can have significant consequences. Keep current by viewing announcements posted on the RCUH website and by promptly attending to direct emails.
  • Commonly Used Forms - While it is tempting to bookmark commonly used forms, this practice is discouraged. RCUH may make unannounced changes to the form. For the current form, go to Policies, Forms & Documents under Resources.
