July 9, 2010

Because 2010 is an election year, campaign activities for candidates for elective office are anticipated during this time.  The Hawaii State Ethics Commission (“Commission”) would like to remind state officials and employees that campaign restrictions apply to them under the State Ethics Code, Chapter 84, Hawaii Revised Statutes.  The Commission has issued a two-page publication, “CAMPAIGN RESTRICTIONS FOR STATE OFFICIALS AND STATE EMPLOYEES” that provides important information.  To obtain this publication, click here:

The Commission will be issuing additional publications regarding campaign activities and the State Ethics Code. To obtain publications relevant to campaign activities that have been issued by the Commission to date, click here:

Please also check for publication updates on the Commission’s website at

Please forward this memorandum to the officials and employees in your state agency.  If any state boards or commissions are within your agency or are attached to your agency, please forward this memorandum to the members of those boards or commissions as well.  Thank you for your assistance in this matter.
