RCUH Vacation Forfeiture Coming Soon: Use It or Lose It!

August 25, 2026

To: All RCUH employees with a vacation leave balance

All vacation leave hours exceeding the maximum carry-over of an eligible employee’s applicable vacation plan will be automatically forfeited on December 31, 2026. We encourage all employees to coordinate and schedule vacation leave between now and the end of the calendar year to prevent forfeiture!

Visit our Benefits Spotlight – Vacation Leave (Use it or Lose it!) for more information including our Vacation Forfeiture Calculator to help you estimate any potential forfeiture and plan accordingly!

Maximum carry-over hours depends on the employee's Vacation Plan (*Hours are prorated if less than 100% FTE):

  • Vacation Plan A (default plan): Up to a total maximum carry-over of 10 workdays (*80 hours based on 100% FTE)
  • Vacation Plan B (legacy plan): Each plan year you may carry-over no more than 15 workdays (*120 hours based on 100% FTE), but may carry-over a total maximum accumulated total of 45 workdays (*360 hours based on 100% FTE)
    • Accumulation example for Vacation Plan B for 100% FTE:
Year 1: 120 hours max carryover
Year 2: 120 hours max carryover (+ 120 hours max carryover from Year 1 = 240 hours total maximum accumulated
Year 3: 120 hours max carryover (+ 240 hours max carryover from Years 1 and 2 = 360 hours total maximum accumulated)
