Duo has announced that an older version of the Duo Mobile app will no longer be supported by the end of March. Duo Mobile must be updated to 4.85.0 or later before March 31, 2026, to ensure uninterrupted service and connectivity with Duo.
How to check your version of Duo Mobile:
- iOS: Open Duo Mobile and tap the menu icon on the top left corner. The app version will be displayed in the bottom left corner.
- Android: Go to the Android Settings menu, tap Apps, then scroll down and tap Duo Mobile. The "App Info" screen shows the version.
Duo Mobile should update automatically via the iOS App Store or Google Play Store on supported mobile operating systems (OS) versions (Android 11 or later/iOS 16 or later). Those that are not on a supported mobile OS will need to update their OS first then ensure they have updated their Duo Mobile application via the iOS App Store or Google Play Store before the support service end date.
If Duo Mobile is not updated to 4.85.0 or later before March 31, users will no longer receive a Duo Push and will not be able to log into the RCUH Financial Portal, Human Resources Portal, or Employee Self-Service Portal (i.e. “RCUH Portals”).
As reminder, Duo is our two-factor authentication solution into our RCUH portals Duo was implemented on Feb. 23, 2024 to improve our system security and is required for all RCUH Portals:
- What is two-factor authentication? Two-factor authentication provides a second layer of security to any type of login, requiring extra information or a physical device to log in, in addition to your password. By requiring two different channels of authentication, we can protect user logins from remote attacks that may exploit stolen usernames and passwords.
- Why do we need two-factor authentication? Login credentials are more valuable than ever and are increasingly easy to compromise. Over 90% of breaches today involve compromised usernames and passwords. Two-factor authentication enhances the security of your account by using a secondary device (e.g., smartphone) to verify your identity. This prevents anyone but you from accessing your account, even if they know your password.
